BIZZARRO: THE FULL STORY
Feb 3, 2012 @ 11:53
As previously told we went by jewelry designer Christina Bizzarro the other day and here I had a chance to have a look at her jewelry. I also asked Christina a few questions. Christina has been working with collars for years and I quite like the history of how they came about.
L: What is your background?
C: I’m partly educated from “The Danish Design School” (Textile department) and partly from “The Institute of Precious Metals”. I work in a cross field between textiles and jewellery, where the trends of fashion and the classic history of style often play a vital role.
L: How did you come across the idea of using old collars as jewelry?
C: I went through a box off stuff my grandfather left me, and among the old cufflinks, butterflies and other gents props, were these beautiful vintage wing collars. I started mixing them with chains and pearls, and suddenly they went from being very masculine objects to feminine jewellery. Now I search flea markets, vintage stores and other places that might treasure old collars, making each of those I find unique both in shapes and material. And I quite like that each collars is stamped inside from the manufactures and their previous owners.
Prices from about 1800 DKR.
