OPHELIA’S WARDROBE
Nov 1, 2011 @ 8:54
Tell us about yourself?
My name is Ophelia, I’m 28 and I work as the store manager in Wood Wood in Aarhus. Last year I spend a semester in New York where I attended Parsons – the new school of design. There I tried out some more practical courses (compare to the more theoretical I was use to) – among others costume design
Describe your style in five words or less?
Hmm difficult… boyish/hipster, French chic, sculptural minimalism, burnt colors, grey tone scale colors… all depending on my mood.
Who are your style heroes?
Hanneli Mustaparta, Alexa Chung, Maria van Nguyen, Elin Kling, Elise Born – It’s a kliche but damn, I envy their wardrobes and style.
Who’s your older woman style icon?
I am crazy about Patty Smith for her boyish style, but mainly I’ve fallen in love with her after reading her biography “Just Kids” which is about her life with Robert Mapplethorpe in the late sixties and seventies in New York.
Is there anything you would never be caught wearing?
I once said I would never be caught wearing flared trousers – but now I am actually totally hooked on them. So the conclusion must be that it is difficult to predict the future – and what you wouldn’t be caught wearing one day, is what you are wearing the next – especially when you are committed to the fashion industry – or if you are a “fashion victim” like me (to quote my old boss). But if I have to say something, I must say, I’m not crazy about wearing anything sleeveless.
What are you excited about wearing this fall and winter?
My navy Commuun jacket which has the perfect cut as it neatly combines sculptural Japanese and French chic lines. And then I can’t wait to wear my new brown ridding boots by Common Projects. The perfect winter outfit.
What are the five key pieces you find yourself wearing constantly?
My PS1, coat by Comuun, free run sneakers, Chloe Servigny for Opening Ceremony platforms, patterned knitted sweater by Wood Wood.
What’s your most treasured item in your closet?
Two of the best investments I’ve ever made are my leather leggings by Topshop Unique, which I been wearing all the time for three years now and my shearling vest from Henrik Vibskov. Otherwise I treasure my shoe collection highly. I love my sneakers for everyday outfits and my super high heels for going out. To me accessories is everything – and my PS1 is my baby.
What’s on your fall/winter/holiday wish list accessories-wise?
Romantic Skirt in grey wool by Acne and another bag by Proenza Shouler, maybe PS11.
Can you give us some of your shopping tips?
I love finding jewelry on flea markets and in vintage shops because you can really find some beautiful items in great quality at good prizes. I believe you develop this great, lasting relationship with all vintage finding. I have a great black, floor length, pleated skirt which I found in a vintage store i New York that I am very found of – and a perfect blazer with “power shoulders” which I found in Aarhus – of course also vintage.
Tell me about your time at Parsons. What did you do, what did you learn – and would you recommend it to others (and why)?
Oh my time at Parsons was fantastic – I enjoyed it so much. It is super inspiring to be surrounded by so competent teachers and students. I would definitely recommend it any time as long as you are prepared for a lot of hard work. And I mean New York for that matter – Love the city!!!

Thanks Anita. The collar is from COS.
Love her style! Does she have a blog?
No, unfortunately not – but I’ll let her know that she should consider starting one
